Thank you for visiting us! We are a small hobby breeder located in central Ohio or as they say here, we're in Buckeye country! Although I'm many miles from a real boardwalk, I thought the name was cute (and wishful thinking). Here, at Birdie Boardwalk, we spend our days having fun together, no birds in separate cages in dark corners. I believe bird-keeping is a way of life. My birds aren’t just living day to day, they are flourishing, having fun! When babies are being hand-raised by me, they get play time and are free to fly (or cling) on to me. This gives them a chance to play together and yes sometimes squabble to get the best place on their human - this makes for a well socialized and friendlier bird, not only towards each other, but their human companion as well. One advantage our babies have from the start is that they are raised in a home environment, so they are use to all the usual household noises (vacuum cleaner, dogs barking). In fact, my babies will happily cling onto your shoulder while you do your daily chores which may include sweeping up their bird room! "All aboard the Boardwalk!"
Since I am a small bird breeder, I breed for quality and not quantity. This way, I don't have too many babies to care for at one time. I am then able to give each baby the individual attention that it needs and deserves. This of course will not only make a better and more loving companion for you, but it makes for a happy little baby!
A current list of birds I have available can be found on the Available Birds & Prices page. I mostly have South American species, but will occasionally have the African species. I do specialize in greencheek conures (middle bird above) as I enjoy their size, personality (quite a loyal little bird) and quietness. I also love all their colors and can produce many of them (from normal to turquoise). Since space is limited at my home, I have trusted resources that I sometimes go to purchase babies out of nest to raise as my own. This way I am not limited to a few species of birds. This is also why it is always a good idea to check my Available Bird page to see who is in the nursery! You never know what the stork has brought us!! ...you should always do your homework. Many parrot species can live a very long life, anywhere from 20 to 50 years! Do as much research as possible and never buy a baby on a whim. Do's and Don'ts: Although one of the main reasons people buy a large parrot is for their talking ability, please don't get a parrot solely for that reason. What will you do if it ends up not talking for you?? Do bring a parrot into your home because you want a life-long companion and will spend time with it everyday as you would with another human. If you do this, you and your feathered friend will live many happy years together! If you would go to the Available Birds & Prices page and scroll down, you will find information on health care, including names of avian veterinaries in the Columbus area and my health warranty. Is is always a good idea to have an avian vet lined up before you bring your new baby home. I accept deposits to hold your baby until it is fully weaned. I will not allow any baby that is not weaned to go to its new home (unless you are experienced in hand-feeding). You may make additional payments during this time. Any remaining balance is due at the time of pick up and cash will only be accepted at that time. Any deposits you make are not refundable unless there is another buyer for your bird at the time of cancellation.
Shipping is available for an additional $125.00 (subject to change and weather permitting) plus a $25.00 fuel charge. I usually ship through Delta. Parrots are not permitted to be sent via the Post Office. The only exception are quails, USPS allows this and I do have quails on occasion. Unweaned babies are also not permitted to be shipped. ************************ Tweet tweet tweet and squawk squawk squawk I can be chatty and scream a lot! Waiting anxiously for my new home...when ya gonna get me as I'm all alone... ...L. Molnar |
"Hi everyone, over here!"
Come join me on the Birdie Boardwalk...let's see what's going on . . .
My Green Cheek Aviary The size of this aviary is about 8 feet by 8 feet by 4 feet. I put a large poster in the back of the aviary for that added touch. I included a couple of hanging birds feeders, full spectrum lighting along with night lights to prevent "night fright" and added warmth. I try to provide an environment that best meets their needs, if they're happy, I'm happy!
