With
the pairs I have now, I can produce over 35 colors (or mutations) of
lovebirds and that is not counting any splits they might carry.
This is very exciting as new colors may still occur within a clutch
that I didn't even expect ...you just gotta love the
lovebird!!! If you scroll all the way down, I have listed the colors I can
currently produce.
Now
for some photos:
Follow
me everybody, we're almost there...not sure where we are going, but
I think we are almost there . . .

Okay,
back where we started!

Below
are photos of some colors:
The
left lovebird is a Slate (double dark factor) shown with an Australian Cinnamon (or
Pallid) lovebird

If
you like colorful lovebirds, then the "Pied" lovebird is
for you. Below are some pictures of different colored pieds.
This
little lovebird below is a green pied with a peach face. This pied
is considered a "heavy" pied meaning it has more yellow
than green. Pieds also come in orange face, sometimes I am lucky
enough to get both face colors!

The
pied baby below is a regular pied, not as much yellow, but still
sports lots of colors such as green, yellow, peach and blue!
Trivia: Do you know that pied babies have speckled feet!!

The
lovebird below is a Blue Pied. A pied bird should have symmetrical
coloring, meaning color pattern should match on both sides. This baby is an excellent example of a symmetrical pied.
Notice how the color patterns are identical on each side of this
bird. As an added note, this bird was proudly bred by me and proudly
owned by Stephanie who provided this photo of this lovely bird.

Now
the below bird is considered
a Violet Pied. It has soft purple feathers (also bred by me and
owned by Stephanie), or is she owned by him!!

The
below bird is not as fancy when it comes to pattern, but it is much more
brilliant and what a contrast of face and body! This
color is actually what you will see native to its country (Africa). It is
commonly called "Peach Faced Normal", but nothing ordinary
about this beauty!

Below
to the left: The normal color can also come in an orange face, calling this color
an Orange Faced Normal. Photo to the right is called a Peach Face Lutino
- it is a bright yellow bird with a blushing red/peachy face - see
the difference in their face colors...
(Below)
Several clutches of lovebird babies-some will be green, some will be
yellow, some will be a surprise - we'll have to wait'n see!
Could
this be love already? - (Below left to right) An American Cinnamon
and a front-view of a violet pied (should I say it again, both birds
were bred by me and owned by Stephanie)

I
think it is...love...

Come
here my love,
you got something on your face, I'll get it for you...

DNA testing for gender is offered for an extra
$25.00 per bird. I will extract blood from your bird's "nail quick"
and send it to an avian laboratory to determine the sex of your
bird. I only offer sexing to a bird you have purchased. You
will receive a certificate from the lab indicating gender within 10 days
of testing. Sorry, no return of birds if gender is not what
you wanted.
Requests -
If
there is a bird that you would like that is not available, you may request to be put on a
waiting list and I can inform you of an expectant date. Just send me
an email at: louann@birdieboardwalk.com
Health of your bird - I will
provide a "Care Sheet" when you purchase a bird from me. I
recommend reading this care sheet BEFORE you bring your new bird home to
help you get ready for your new arrival. I will email this information to
you unless you prefer a printed copy.
Warranty - In order for
my warranty to apply, your new bird is expected to be picked up shortly
after it's weaned date if you have a deposit down on one. Sorry, at this time, I
only offer replacement birds on certain kinds of birds due to limited
breeding. It is always recommended that you take your bird to an
avian veterinarian for an
initial check up for an overall health evaluation.
In order for my guarantee to be effective, you must take your bird for this
initial check-up within 4 days of picking up your bird from me. If your
bird dies
within this time (not
including any accidents, mishaps or neglect),
you must take the dead bird to an avian vet for a necropsy (animal
autopsy) to determine cause of death. If it is determined that the bird's
death was due to a disease or a congenital problem, I must receive a copy
of the necropsy report indicating as such. You will then be entitled to
receive a replacement
bird. If a replacement bird is not available at that time, you can either
wait until one becomes available or request a refund. Birds
currently under this warranty are: Green cheek conures and lovebirds. See below for an avian
veterinarians.

(nostrils), vent, heart, lungs and overall general appearance. For an
additional cost, Dr. Mohan will perform a Gram Stain test which will
check for bacteria and yeast by taking a culture from your bird's throat
and fecal matter (droppings). He will only perform testing for the 4P's
(Chlamydia/Psittacosis, Polyoma,
PBFD, Pacheco's), if your bird is showing clinical symptoms. There
are other additional tests that can be performed to check your bird's
overall heath to include blood health
(red and white cell count) and liver and kidney function. These tests are
optional and usually performed on bigger parrots annually, but can be
performed on your bird upon request. If interested, call his office for

When babies
are this small, I affectionately call them "bees". This little bee
just had a meal - see how full her crop is! Food will be stored there
until she needs it and will then be slowly emptied into her belly. When
empty, the baby will cry (or beg) for more food.
